FORT BROCKHURST CHARITY NIGHT IN ASSOCIATION WITH ENGLISH HERITAGE (GOSPORT HAMPSHIRE)

A strikingly unusual moated Victorian fort made of brick, Fort Brockhurst was built as part of a 19th-century plan to defend Portsmouth Harbour. The keep is almost perfectly circular, defended by a moat on one side, with a large parade ground to the rear.

History

When the threat of a French invasion loomed in the middle of the 19th century the British government under Lord Palmerston responded by erecting a series of coastal forts. One of these was Fort Brockhurst, built to defend the naval port and dockyards at Portsmouth. Fort Brockhurst was one of 5 forts built to defend Portsmouth, known as the Gosport Advanced Lines.

Construction began in 1858 and the fort was finished in 1862. The design was a six-sided polygon, built low to the ground and defended by earthen ramparts reinforced with brick. Inside the polygonal earthwork was a circular keep, and the entire structure was surrounded by a wide moat.

We started off in the base room and split in to two groups my group started of with evp recordings where we heard what sounded like a dragging sound and running water .we went to the gun room as we called where all the cannons were uncovered for us. After a while of calling out and cat balls going off to command we could see what looked like a shadow moving across the lower part where the windows were, the shadow appeared to move from left to right.

After a bit of calling out to spirit to come and communicate with us one of the investigators felt like a touch on the back of his leg from what seemed to be a child named Tommy. After we had done about a hour there we then moved on to the prison cells this was very interesting place after calling out in cell one there was what sounded like a knock by the door way to the cell after a short time we saw what looked like a amber light in the passageway outside but was moving side to side so i went in the passageway to see if someone was there but no one there but as i turned around to come back to cell one i saw a shadow from the back which was about 6ft in height and had a tall hat on and the light in front of them which was amber in colour( strange )

the other group had got three very loud knocks as a reply from spirit after asking them to knock as a form of communication which was great also cat balls going of and the plasma ball stuck as if something was touching the glass this was a charity night for English Heritage where all the money raised was given to there charity.
